Granite is one of the most widely used materials for kitchen tops in urban houses. They are quite hard, water resistant, heat resistant and extremely long-lasting. On the other hand, due to its location and the type of use, it is put to, these granite tops get dirty quite regularly. Kitchen tops regularly get stained with oil, curry paste, vegetable dye, and many more such products. On the other hand, since daily cooking is done and the material used on it is consumed regularly, it is extremely important to keep it clean on a regular basis. One of the most easily used and readily available materials for cleaning these granite kitchen tops is water. Simply soak a cleaning cloth in water and wipe the kitchen top clean. On the other hand, since granite is water resistant material, spilled water if not wiped away fast, can also leave a stain. But in some cases, when the stain is stubborn and does not wipe off easily, one needs to use a granite stain remover.
Granite stain remover products are easily available in the market and can be used for all types of stains. Some of the cases in which granite stain remover is used are:
- Liquid stains caused by acidic liquids such as lemon juice, orange juice, wine, etc. need to be washed off immediately. If these liquids are allowed to stay on the surface, it damages the sealant and leaves a permanent mark on the granite.
- Vegetable juice is another type of liquid which leaves behind a relatively stubborn stain. There are a number of products available in the market which helps to easily remove this stain even if it’s there for a long time. One simply needs to put these products care carefully on a cloth and gently rub the stain to remove it.
- Another very common stain found around the faucet on the granite kitchen top basin is the hard water stain. With prolonged use, there is bound to be water retentions around the faucet base. This retention causes these water stain rings. These rings are more prominent if the water is hard water. These are relatively easier stains and can be easily removed by using even the simple granite stain remover products available in the market.
- Some of the other stains caused by oil deposits or tomato sauce or any other types of sauces are much harder to remover. These become hard and tend to leave an almost permanent mark on the kitchen top. For these types of highly stubborn stains, one needs to buy special products which are a bit stronger than the normal ones. One usually needs to apply this and keep it applied on the stain for some time before washing it off. At times, one may also need to scrub it with special scrubbers available in the markets which are specially made for rubbing on granite without hurting the surface.
One needs to also understand that all these stain removal products can be toxic and thus need to be handled carefully.
