Cleaning Concrete Floors with Adhesive Removers

by | May 4, 2020 | Home Improvement

Tile adhesive is used to bind tiles onto concrete walls, well. The adhesive tile acts as a glue, allowing the tiles to bind onto the floor so it will not slip. There are different types of adhesive removers, and understanding which one was used for your floor would make it easier for you to remove the adhesive. What we call organic mastics is the most common form of tile adhesives. They are chosen because they do not need to be combined and can hold tiles in place without slipping.

Mortar is also a common option for the adhesive for tiles. This is typically mixed and has more significant quality of bonding than conventional mastics. These are often more versatile and have to be coated in a thin layer of paper.

Steps to Follow for Adhesive Removal

There are many steps on how to use an adhesive remover

Watering the adhesive is the first step. To soften the adhesive using hot water to mop the ground. Mop it carefully, so that it does not harm the floor below. Using a scraper to cut it after the adhesive has hardened.

When water does not dissolve the adhesive, it may be used as an option with a Shower Mould Remover. There will be directions on the bottle, so read and follow the instructions carefully. Apply the mould remover, and then wipe it off after the adhesive has weakened. You may also use a sharp blade while operating on a concrete surface. This looks like a razor and was made particularly for scraping the adhesive softened off.

After the adhesive has been successfully removed, you can go on sanding the board. This is a required step in preparing the floor for further coverage. While some floor coverings can be built over raw floors, nothing is more perfect than sanded floors.

Is Adhesive Removal Difficult?

Adhesive removal is not as difficult as tile removal, although it can be messy. I guess you are also wondering if it is worth paying for somebody else to do it.

If you have all the time in the world, there should be no problem doing the task yourself. If you have a job or a business to run though, I would say go ahead and hire a professional. This task may take a couple of days to finish, and I am sure you would rather spend your time on more important things.

Overall, adhesive remover, the biggest reason why you should hire a professional because you might end up hiring them anyway. As mentioned, mould and tile, removal is complicated and involves many steps to be done right. Many people decided to do tile removal on their own but found out that they cannot do it, so they hire a professional halfway.  Ultimately, if you were going to pay for it then it would be better to hire a professional right away than waste time trying it by yourself, right.
